This project was commissioned by artist Andri Soteri-Proctor. Andri's unique drawing style involves liquid inks which she flows across the canvas. The desk needed to freely tilt at any angle, but also lock into position at any given point, being sturdy enough, once locked, to lean on when drawing.

To solve this problem, I built a system of lathe jigs to turn a giant spherical bearing from laminated birch ply. This was then sandwiched between the upper and lower surfaces of the desk, which clamp together, holding the desktop at the desired angle when tightened.
